Markham Centennial Pool
Ozone Swimming Pool, Water & Air Treatment, Canada
The City of Markham, Ontario operates a number of aquatic facilities including a large indoor municipal pool at the Markham Centennial Recreation Centre. Simpson Environmental was contacted by the City’s parks and recreation department to service an existing ozone-bromine system acquired from a US supplier. Following many operational problems and a lack of service and support, Simpson was engaged by the City staff to repair specific components and overtime replaced the ozone generators and some control system components with Simpson proprietary equipment. The pool, which handles a load of over 1400 swimmers per week, now consumes less than half of the chemicals it did prior to system upgrade and labour hours required to clean the “bathtub ring” on the liner has been dramatically reduced.
