An Ontario-based entrepreneur in the fertilizer control systems business selling to professional greenhouse growers approached Simpson Environmental to co-develop a water quality system to augment their existing product line. The product was a Greenhouse Irrigation Water Recycling system that achieved a number of objectives including the savings of some 30% in water usage, 40% in the use of commercial fertilizers and the removal of bacteria from the recycled water. The system, which was trademarked as The “Fertigation” Treatment System is now commercially available through Climate Control Systems Inc. and includes a Windows XP-based PC controlling a series of meters, PLC’s and a Simpson provided oxygen generating system and ozone disinfection system sized to each growers requirements.
