Condominium Pool Project
Ozone Swimming Pool, Water & Air Treatment, Canada
Simpson Environmental Corp. was asked to assist an alumnus colleague with a nagging problem at an indoor swimming pool at a condominium complex in Kingston, Ontario. The majority of owners in the complex were senior citizens, many of whom suffered from severe rashes from the chlorine disinfectant used to cleanse the pool water. Simpson designed and installed a fully automated ozone/bromine pool disinfection system for this 25,000 gallon pool. The system included a suitably sized ozone generator complete with air drier and ozone gas separator, a bromine injection system, and ORP/pH controller as well as a CO2 dispenser to lower pH on demand from a secondary control unit.
In addition to provide added health and safety measures, an ozone detection system was installed in the equipment room which ensured that the level of residual ozone in the room did not exceed Ontario Provincial health and safety guidelines. Within hours of the changeover from the existing chlorine-based system to the new ozone-bromine system, the patrons noticed improvements in water quality and those with sensitive skin no longer suffered from skin rashes from contact with the pool water.
